Bravium is Latin for gift and showcases the cool climate vineyards where we grow our grapes.
Brand Story
Created by winemaker Derek Rohlffs, Bravium is the culmination of meticulous care in the vineyards and a patient approach in the cellar. Derek takes his cues from tradition. He doesn’t alter what the earth gives him. He’s a classic minimalist.
Derek draws on hillside and mountaintop fruit in the coveted cool-climate vineyards of Sonoma’s Russian River Valley and Mendocino’s Anderson Valley to create terroir-driven Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Bravium grapes are harvested by hand and sorted in the field and again in the cellar. Patience is employed throughout the process. Native yeasts naturally initiate a slow fermentation in the cold-soaking grape must. The wine later travels by gravity into French oak barrels, where it ages for the better part of a year. This gentle movement and eschewing of sterile filtration allows the final wines to be terroir-driven snapshots of their vineyards and appellations.
